Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is a co-op mode that got added to the base game after its launch. Some fans saw it being labeled as “Trial,” but Sony had updated its PlayStation Store description to clarify that everyone would get the full version of the game. The store description states that players should go ahead and complete the redemption process. Unfortunately, it looks like redeeming the PS Plus version of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends locks players out of an upgrade.

This error was first reported by ResetEra users. It looks like anyone who adds the PlayStation Plus version of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends to their library will not be able to purchase the PS5 upgrade for Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut. This version includes the Iki Island DLC, and it also comes with a few new features. Players who own the base PS4 version of Ghost of Tsushima first had to upgrade to the Director’s Cut, and they could then upgrade to the PS5 version for a total of $30.
Upon redeeming the PS Plus edition, players will not be able to use the cheaper upgrade option for the PS4 version of Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, which subsequently locks them out of the PS5 upgrade. The store’s back end considers the co-op mode to be a part of the Director’s Cut version and simply says that players cannot get the upgrade because they already own “Ghost DC Trial Tracker.”
Fans can still buy the PS5 version of Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut at full price, but hopefully, Sony can fix this issue for users who were looking to upgrade in the future. PS Plus members have faced similar errors before, as they would often not be able to purchase games they had previously redeemed while being members of PlayStation Plus. This issue has reportedly been resolved, but it highlights another one of PSN’s back end problems. Many users add all available PS Plus games to their library upon their release, and it’s unfortunate to see them getting locked out of a cheaper upgrade.
Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is available on PS4 and PS5.
